From Howlroyde to Holroyd in 800 years
About me
I am Sandra Dorothy Carr, nee HOLROYD. Daughter of Albert Edward Holroyd and Olga Stanger.
I am a direct descendant of William De Howlroyde, of Howroyd,Barkisland,Nr Halifax. I acquired most of my knowledge on this family tree from my distant cousin,who is sadly now deceased, Douglas Holroyd, who for many years ,spent a great deal of time searching church registers and trudging through graveyards and cemeteries, Oh how he would have loved the internet! God Rest His Soul.
from Rishworth ,to Greetland,to Wadsworth,to Leeds,to Orkney and back again and now to Lincolnshire.
With my extensive family tree comes a family 'Bible" containing much information about the family including The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Earls of 'Sheffield". The will of George Holroyd of "Cawcroft" (Cockroft), the land and farm of "Howroyd",etc,etc. also several photographs,some with known names and recognised places and
a coat of arms, apparently depicted on the ceiling of Halifax Parish Church.
